My Project

**Project Title: Confidence Through Personal Hygiene**

As middle school students in a Title I school, many of them face challenges outside of the classroom that can impact their confidence, focus, and ability to learn.

Despite these obstacles, they come to school eager to grow, build relationships, and do their best every day.

Personal hygiene is an essential life skill that directly affects a student's self-esteem, health, and social interactions. Many of my students do not have consistent access to basic hygiene items such as deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, hair brushes, combs, hair ties, and products designed for different hair types. As students enter adolescence, these needs become even more important. Having access to these items helps prevent body odor, promotes healthy hair and skin, and gives students the confidence to participate in class, work with peers, and engage in school activities without feeling embarrassed or self-conscious.

The resources from this project will allow me to create a discreet classroom hygiene station where students can access essential items whenever they need them. This ensures that no student has to miss learning opportunities or feel singled out because they lack basic personal care products. It also provides teachable moments about healthy hygiene habits, independence, and self-care skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

When students know their basic needs are supported, they can spend less time worrying about how they look or smell and more time focusing on learning, building friendships, and reaching their full potential.
