Living Life in 3-D!

Help me give my students a hands-on approach to learning by allowing them to create real-life models of the characters they read about in books using a 3D printer!

My Project

My group of 3rd graders is precious! They are smart, kind, active, and creative. I love finding ways to provide learning opportunities to match their learning styles. Reading can open so many doors for students, but sometimes it is difficult to reach the students who need hands-on approaches. Also, because the majority of my students come from low-income backgrounds, many of them do not have access to the latest technology in their homes.

Making my classroom more technologically intelligent can open doors for these students.

A 3-D printer would allow my students to engage with textual analysis and express their understanding using the latest technology. It would give them opportunities to create dioramas of scenes from the texts we're reading and then to write about those details using textual evidence. They also could analyze a character and create mini-figures that depict their understanding of the character. Really, the possibilities are endless!

I am so grateful for the generous donors who are helping public school teachers make dreams a reality. Without their help, I would not be able to bring this type of technology into my classroom.
