In the technological age, the skills needed in order to be successful are constantly changing. Students now need a variety of literacy skills that involve technology. Since the onset of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, I have found that there are numerous ways to use technology to enhance learning in the classroom. This year, our students each received individual Chromebooks to use at school, which was a major milestone. However, with many low-income families, many students do not have the ability to purchase headphones that are listed on the school supply list. This greatly limits the activities that can be done in class. Having headphones would provide more opportunities with phonics training, virtual field trips, and various instructional strategies. They are also helpful in assisting students with learning and hearing disabilities participate in virtual learning with greater independence.
