My Project

A print-rich classroom environment will continue to support the inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning space that I strive to create for my pre-K students. My classroom library is an area where students gather to listen to stories, explore books independently, and build early literacy skills through hands-on experiences. In an inclusive classroom setting, it is important that all students have access to books that reflect different interests, cultures, abilities, and learning levels. A print-rich environment encourages communication, language development, imagination, and a love for reading while also helping students feel represented and included within the classroom community.

A print-rich classroom provides opportunities for meaningful conversations, emergent reading skills, and positive peer interactions.

With these new books and storage materials, my students will be able to access organized, clearly separated book themes that support independent learning and exploration. Storage bins and organizers will allow books to be sorted by topics such as emotions, community helpers, transportation, animals, seasonal themes, social-emotional learning, and diverse family structures. Keeping books detailed, organized, and easy to access helps preschool students build independence by allowing them to choose books based on their interests and developmental needs. Organized storage also helps maintain a calm and structured learning environment, which is especially beneficial for students with special needs who thrive on predictability and clear visual organization.
