Help me give my students a classroom pet hamster to teach responsibility with animals

Ms. Pellam Rural Hall Elementary School

Rural Hall, NC Grades 3-5

My Project

Imagine walking into the classroom and seeing students gathered around a small animal, quietly observing, asking questions, and sharing what they notice. A classroom hamster would give our students a unique opportunity to learn through real-life experiences.

Our students will learn about animal needs, habitats, behavior, and life cycles while connecting these experiences to science and literacy.

They can record observations, practice following routines, and learn how their actions affect another living thing.

We are seeking support for the supplies needed to provide a safe and enriching home for our hamster, including a habitat, bedding, food, enrichment items, and other basic necessities.

Having a classroom pet will bring curiosity and excitement into our learning environment while giving students something meaningful to observe and talk about throughout the school year.

Thank you for helping us create a hands-on learning experience our students will remember!
