My Students

My students are a fantastic group of 5th graders who live and learn on Chicago's South Side. Though funding is often an issue, even more so is competing with the trials and tribulations of what the outside world brings.

My students are curious, talented, resilient, and hardworking.

They deserve every learning opportunity, quality materials, and a safe, welcoming, and engaging class to come to each day!

My Project

Literature circles are an important part of our reading block. Literature circles encourage students to take ownership of their own learning and engage in the social aspect of reading while honing their language and speaking skills.

Some of the learners in my classroom need different books at different reading levels that are more accessible for their comprehension levels to use for literature circle activities.

These books will help engage my emergent readers in their literature circle activities and provide a text that is accessible to them at their independent reading level
