This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten students are intelligent, authentic, curious, critical, and creative learners. I work with 22 five-year-old children and their caring adults collaboratively to building a brave learning community. We are a part of a Title I school centered in the heart of the Mission in San Francisco, and the majority of my students are BIPOC and English Language Learners.

This community is one that is vibrant and tight-knit, and it has a rich history.

I am so grateful to be able to be teaching in this community. Teaching is not an act one can do alone; it is collective. I have created this page in order to reach out to that collective. I appreciate you supporting our classroom community.

My Project

In Kindergarten, my students are learning to read and they are excited about it! We love to study phonics and practice early reading activities. The best way for Kindergarten students to do this is through play based phonics instruction. Each of the games purchased in this project will support students in acquiring their letters, letter sounds, sight words, CVC words, and more. These skills are vital to mastering prerequisite skills needed to grow great readers in early childhood classrooms. These activities will be beneficial to my students in small groups, centers, and independent time. Thank you for supporting my students and their early literacy skills!
