Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school where the majority of my students come from low-income families. For most of them, the highlight of their day is coming to school, where they get to use supplies and equipment that they normally would not have access to while interacting with their peers.
We have a very diverse classroom and my goal is to help every student become successful no matter what level they are on.
My Project
By updating our listening library students will have more opportunities to improve their reading skills. Following along to a book being read is beneficial to students' fluency. Students also benefit from having their own set of headphones. Having their own headphones gives each student the opportunity to listen to their own differentiated activities on the computer. These activities include math and literacy.
Headphones for each student and an updated listening library will help improve my students' literacy skills.
Having new audiobooks will help give my students that are struggling with their reading more exposure to the written word. Because of the pandemic, the majority of our sweet first graders came into first grade extremely behind. I am wanting to use the updated listening library and headphones as tools to help improve their literacy skills.
