My students need a listening station and head phones for their I-pads to assist them in literacy.

My Students

When my students walk into the door each day they are full of energy and life! They are like little sponges, ready to soak up all the knowledge they can. Each child is unique and special in their own way.

Each day, every student will be encouraged to do their very best and know they are cared for.

My student's can't get enough of listening to stories! They love being read to. The community has a big population of Native Americans and the school offers some Indian Ed. assistance. I would like to increase meeting the needs of literacy to my students through listening more to stories at a Listening Station.

My Project

What makes learning to read more special than to hear it from a listening station! Stories on CD, make reading come alive with expression, music and excitement. Students benefit from this literacy component by learning how to follow along with a story without being distracted by other classmates. Children can focus on the details of the story, concentrating on comprehending the story to recall the events.

Literacy in kindergarten is critical.

Students are learning about fiction and non-fiction books. Learning through listening would be an incredible tool to focus on in this important part of a child's literacy. The students will have the opportunity to retell the story through writing after listening. Students can express what they learned from the story by drawing pictures and adding words using phonetic spelling.
