My Project

First grade animal reports are my favorite writing project of the year! Teaching children about nonfiction writing is much more exciting when students get to select and research their own animal. In my experience, nothing is more exciting to an emergent reader than a brand new book for their personal library! I would like to give my students the opportunity to select a nonfiction animal book on their level. Teach them the research and write process using their selected animal. Then, allow them take the book home to share with their family and continue reading. With your help, I can provide a diverse selection of animal books that will excite and engage first graders as they develop reading, researching, and writing skills!
