Our students absolutely love it. When the school year began and we revealed the new cozy corner, the students were thrilled—they immediately wanted to explore all the new items. We introduced them to the rainbow timer, the emotions mirror, the vibrating bee, and the weighted wolf, and then gave them time to explore each tool in their own way.\r\n\r\nWhen students show signs that they need a break, they are given choices: visit the cozy corner, go for a walk, or use the swing. Most of the time, they choose the cozy corner. One little boy loves to sit in the bean bag and use the emotions mirror. He finds the emotion card that matches how he feels and then practices making the same expression in the mirror. Another student frequently asks for a break so he can set the rainbow timer and hold the weighted dog. When one of our youngest students becomes upset, holding the vibrating bee helps him calm his body and emotions.\r\n\r\nThe cozy corner has been a wonderful and positive addition to our classroom. We deeply appreciate your understanding of its importance and your generous support in making it possible.","fullyFundedDate":1756162600682,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-corner-a-safe-sensory-space-for-di/9539904/","projectTitle":"Cozy Corner: A Safe Sensory Space for Diverse Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Auer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5754666"},{"teacherId":5754666,"projectId":9312187,"letterContent":"Thank You for Supporting Our Students!\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your generous support, which allowed us to bring new books into our classroom. These books have had a truly meaningful impact on our students' understanding of social-emotional concepts.\r\n\r\nSo far this school year, we've implemented 4 out of 25 planned lessons. Already, the progress we've seen has been inspiring. For example, after reading Froggy Goes to School, our students explored how to make others feel welcome in the classroom. One student even started waving \"hi\" to everyone when he arrives at school—an encouraging sign of growing social awareness! \r\n\r\nHoward B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen helped us reinforce our classroom listening rules. The students connected with Howard's story and were eager to apply what they learned. When we read The Listening Walk, our students enjoyed taking their own listening walk around the school. It was a fun and powerful way to emphasize the importance of mindful listening.\r\n\r\nKaty and the Big Snow showed our students the value of perseverance. Katy's can-do attitude was contagious—one student proudly exclaimed, \"I can do it!\" while working independently.\r\n\r\nThese books have sparked joy, meaningful conversations, and noticeable growth in our students. It's been truly amazing to witness their development.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support and for believing in the importance of social-emotional learning. Your generosity is making a lasting difference in our students' lives.","fullyFundedDate":1746737331068,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-build-hearts-and-minds/9312187/","projectTitle":"Books That Build Hearts and Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Auer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5754666"},{"teacherId":7267527,"projectId":9519085,"letterContent":"Funding this project will make such an impact on the children at Primary Children's Hospital. Many of them have to spend extended time there and can't leave their rooms. These individual art kits will give them something to do when they are stuck in their beds. We are currently putting together different kinds of art kits including; foam dinosaurs, foam fairies, foam princesses, and foam cars, along with coloring books and crayons and pom pom penguins. We are going to be able to create around 200 different kits for Primary to help entertain some of these children. Student Council is having so much fun deciding what will go into each kit. One student was putting together a foam dinosaur kit and put tires in so that the dinosaur has wheels. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are truly grateful for your generous support. These additions to our special education preschool classroom have had a profound impact on our students' daily experiences.\r\n\r\nOur students especially love playing with the parachute, and the steppingstones have introduced more challenging activities that promote balance and coordination. While some students were initially hesitant to walk across them, many are now confidently mastering the task, moving from one stone to the next with pride.\r\n\r\nKicking balls across the field and chasing one another has quickly become a favorite activity, helping students build both physical skills and social connections. The tumbling mat has been an invaluable addition—supporting some of our more physically challenged students as they learn to walk on different surfaces, and offering a safe space for others to practice rolling and movement exploration.\r\n\r\nIt's been truly amazing to witness the positive impact these new materials have had on student engagement, learning, and physical development.
