My Students

Our district is a county-wide, pre-k through 12th grade school, comprised of students from eight neighboring towns. There is an unmistakable small town feel when you enter our building. The support from our community is unbelievable! Our district's music program for band and choir was cut approximately nine years ago due to unfortunate budget cuts. Over the past few years, the majority of the remaining musical equipment has disappeared.

After not having a music program for nearly nine years, our district restarted the program from scratch in January 2019!

With the support of our community, we have been able to raise some funds to purchase items that are desperately needed to run the program. We have around 120 fourth through twelfth grade band students and around 35 junior high and high school choir students! We are all working so hard to make this program amazing once again!!!

My Project

After not having a band program for approximately nine years, a lot of our "good" music equipment had disappeared. The percussion equipment in the band room was at least twenty years old when I started working in the district.

Our current marching percussion gear is extremely out of date, very heavy, lacking padding, leaves bruises on the students, and even occasionally falls apart when used.

We have used foam pads and duct tape to soften the load and covered them with black socks to make them look more neutral. This has helped with the comfort of the carriers, however, the weight of the carriers is still too much for some smaller students. With your help, we could purchase at least one new carrier to be used in marching seasons.
