My Project

I am excited to announce our middle school's new Media Arts Program! This standards-based pathway program is designed to prepare students for the popular high school Media Arts CTE (Career & Technical Education) programs. This program will help students develop digital literacy, critical thinking and problem-solving, and writing skills, all while learning how to create content using iPads, digital cameras, and even their own cellphones to document life around Montera. We will also learn how to use popular creative tools like Procreate, Garage Band, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Stop Motion Studio.

Starting a new program requires new supplies, and though we have some of the basics, we lack crucial items to meet our goals.

We need important equipment for our photo studio and a tech hub to keep our iPads safe when not in use. Your contribution will help us build our program and give our students experiences that will help them make the skills needed to share their stories with the world as illustrators, content creators, filmmakers, animators, photographers, and producers.

While learning to create, students will also learn how to look at media with a critical eye. Digital literacy and critical thinking are desperately needed in this world, and students everywhere are struggling with the challenges of living in a digital world that can be full of misinformation, hostility, and just plain meanness. This program will give students skills to navigate digital spaces safely while learning the responsibilities of being a digital content creator.

We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to putting these tools to good use.
