The new clays, glazes, and tools allowed our students to get busy making goods for our Winter Artists Market, an event where students can sell their goods and network with students in high school CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs in our district and to see what those programs are like, while getting important business experiences in pricing and selling their work, engaging with the public, and making business transactions. By providing them with some materials, you allowed them to make more items to sell and to have more freedom with what to make in the lead-up to this event.\r\n\r\nIn this time of AI and screens, it's so important to give students more opportunities to make things with their hands. Students love ceramics and I think this is one of the unspoken things they do love about it. Clay is just clay. We may have more modern equipment and more modern clay and glazes these days, but the processes of working with and firing clay really haven't changed much since ancient times. There is something very primal about making something out of clay and then firing it. These skills can not be automated. AI can't make a better pot.
