This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking individuals. What I love most about my class is that two-thirds of my students are English language learners, and most of the parents have limited English. Being a part of my student's growth is amazingly rewarding. They bring with them unique and valuable views that enrich us all. They all learn from each other. The students I have this year and the years to come, all have one thing in common; they deserve to have the best learning environment and support.

My Project

My wonderful students do not read enough for personal fun. The majority of their reading is curriculum content-related and unfortunately does not provide them with the opportunities to engage creativity. I know that they will definitely benefit greatly from a whole class experience engulfed in the magical world created by Kate DiCamillo where their imaginations can roam freely. Thus sparking love and enjoyment for reading chapter books for pure enjoyment at school or at home. The Tale of Despereaux is so encaptivating and inspiring, that any reader will crave more.
