Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 23 of the most wonderful kids you have ever met! They are eager and excited to come to school and learn each day. Kindergarten is such a magical time in a child’s life with experiences that will shape their futures. Our class is working on communicating with one another, social relationships as well as academic progress. Some of my students attended k4 or head start but for many this is the first experience they have had in school.

Our school is a Title one school that is a high poverty and a high need school. This year we have had budget cuts at our school and I cannot provide many of the resources that my classroom needs.

My Project

My students need grade-level appropriate reading books to use during their independent and partner reading times.

I know that in order for my students become successful readers, they need to have books on their reading level, read frequently, and have the ability to choose their own books.

By offering a leveled section in my classroom library, I believe my students will have better access to "just right" books. In return, this will build their confidence as readers, as well as help them continue to build their fluency, reading strategy use, and comprehension skills. Please help us build our classroom library and become the best readers we can be!
