Letters:Uppercase, Lowercase?

My students need giant tracing letters for upper and lower case letters and letter builders to help them with letter recognition and letter formation.

My Students

In kindergarten we learn our letter names, sounds and how to write. Most of my students have met the challenge. My struggling students are having a very hard time. They have not grasped letter names and need constant help figuring out what letter to write and how to write the letter.

I teach kindergarten in a Northern California Title One school.

I have 25 wonderful students this year. They are eager and engaged learners who come to school with enthusiasm each day. Several of my students are second language learners and many of my students did not have the opportunity to go to preschool. All my students have shown growth in benchmark testing but I have a handful of students that just can't seem to grasp letter names, sounds, and how to write a letter.

My Project

I am asking for Giant Tracing Letters and Letter Builders. I think all my students will benefit from having this resource available but I am targeting these items for my struggling students. Many of these students are second language learners. Some of them just have a hard time with letter concepts. And others have weaker small motor skills that need to be developed. The tracing letters and the letter builders will give my students a tactile way of learning to form letters and learn letter names. Hands-on opportunities will strengthen their motor skills and the added practice will give them confidence. Repeatedly using pencil and paper worksheets can get tedious for a young child that just needs more time to play. These letter activities will feel like games and will fit my students' needs.

My students have a lot to learn this year and learning their letters is a building block that has to be formed in Kindergarten. We cannot read or write without letter recognition, letter names, and letter sounds. Your donation will help all my students but will meet the needs of my students who are struggling to understand letters.
