My Students

My full inclusion school is located in the heart of Mattapan, Ma. My students are in K2 and in the sheltered English immersion classroom. They are brilliant and eager to learn the English language while having lots of fun. This project is to ensure that every child in my classroom will have access to literature that peaks their interest and makes them eager to learn how to read while learning the skills to be able to decode texts.

Additionally, literacy tools such as alphabet games, clay letter cutters, and sight word bingo are just a few things that would give my students a variety of engaging ways to learn and use their letters and words better.

These tools would allow my students to learn how to properly form letters, numbers, and words. Many of my students are just learning the English language or have just started school for the very first time. Beginning school is always a unique journey for all students but doing so when English is not your first language can be challenging and often requires additional supports and modifications to the curriculum for all students to access their learning .

My Project

These books have been chosen with my students in mind and will give my students more opportunities to see themselves, their families, and their experiences in the texts in our growing library. The literacy tools will enhance our centers time and small group lessons by making them more fun and engaging. The variety in games and tools will allow each student regardless of where they are academically to enjoy learning and creating letters, sounds, and words. Every student book that is placed in our library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. Lastly, every game is handled with care so that they will last for years to come!
