As the school social worker, I am charged with supporting the social and emotional needs of student with and without IEPs throughout the school community. Books and games provide opportunities to support this work in a K0-3rd grade setting. \r\n\r\nI often work in small groups or 1:1 settings which allows me to tend to individual needs and provide support for understanding. The students have expressed a liking for the books that are filled with pictures and relatable experiences such as navigating anger, overcoming learning obstacles, understanding diversity and what it looks like to treat others with respect and kindness. \r\n\r\nOne student in particular looks forward to meeting weekly. I believe this is due to his love of books. Upon arriving to my office he heads to the bookshelf. He usually wants to read the same book over and over, however your gracious donations have provided him and the school with many options. Students will be able to use the kneeling pads on the floor or on the rug, allowing their growing bodies to stretch out a bit.\r\n\r\nThese tools will be great additions to our classroom environment. We will use these wipes to clean the desks and highly-touched areas, and the tissues will hopefully get us through this cold, winter seasons!\r\n\r\nControlling the spread of germs in our classroom keeps us all healthy and prevents sickness and absences.
