Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children. My children will be able to see characters in books that they can relate to. Every student deserves to see themselves in the books they read. Books have the power to encourage students while at the same time enlighten other readers of the truths about lives they don't live. Diverse books are important because they teach people about others. The books they read and the characters they get to know can become like friends. Reading also helps children with their confidence levels, coping with feelings and language and learning.
