My Students

I teach in a Title I school in Utah, where many students come from low-income families. We have a great variety of ethnic backgrounds. I teach first graders who are Caucasian, Hispanic, Black, Asian, and Arabic, as well as other ethnicities. Their reading abilities range from pre-K to third grade.

At our school, we say that all our students are college-bound.

The students believe it because the teachers believe it! They work hard in reading and in math and are so happy when they do well. I am so grateful to work in this school with wonderful teachers and students.

My Project

The pandemic is still with us and I'm sure in the last two years I have had a similar DonorsChoose project. We continue to strive for health and safety in our classrooms while the students continue to plug away at their job of learning.

I need to replenish my supply of face masks and Clorox wipes for my students.

Students are wearing masks again. Sometimes my students do not come to school with a mask, or they need a mask replacement. My students and I are regularly wiping down desks and tables to keep our classroom clean.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
