Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a group of students this year who want to read chapter books. That wasn't for all students in my class until recently.

Having silent reading time incorporated into our week has led to positive development.

Students requesting more books for our classroom library.

According to research, sustained silent reading not only improves students' attitudes about reading, but also shows that students who are reading develop better skills in reading comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary. The testing I've done at the beginning of the year and recently proves this. All my students reading levels have increased by at least one grade level. And that is awesome! My students are so deserving of more books like the ones requested in this project to continue growing and building their English acquisition skills.
