Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Music is very important in our lives. It is frequently thought of as "easy" or "play time," but it is not. Students can appear to be having fun while they are making music because music IS fun but not easy! Music is very important to education.
It is important for all children to experience the impact of music.
Motivation to participate in music is limited and is not consistent across the varied socioeconomic levels of student populations at our school. Music implementation throughout my lessons will educate children to be a well rounded student.Research supports how music uses both sides of the brain that is valuable in all areas of development. Music can portray any mood, and it can grab a student’s interest in order to make it good. Learning to sing and keep rhythm develops coordination. Music will allow them to think about complex patterns or about how to make their part sound better? They will learn to find the details and how they can change to adjust tone or intonation. The students will learn to be aware of what every other musician does at every time so that they can communicate and cooperate.Studies indicate that students who study music achieve higher test scores, regardless of socioeconomic background.
My Project
By immersing the students into the world of music, it will provide my students a unique opportunity for literacy preparation. Whether the children are singing, playing, or listening, I will direct them to listen and hear in new ways which will exercise their oral discrimination. Playing instruments and adding movement to the lessons teaches children about sequential learning which is essential for reading comprehension.
The instruments will help to make music that affects the growth of a student’s brain academically, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Having the right tools to teach music will impact their aptitude and capability for learning.
Using a rhythm set, maracas, tambourines, glockenspiels, or hand bongos will help students to learn all about music and improve learning across other curricular areas. Involving children in the music world will help them discover a unique identity and personal accomplishment offered by the experience of playing music with their peers.
