My Project

First graders thrive in a classroom where they get to express their creativity in lots of fun and engaging ways. The magna tiles and other STEM toys will be a great way to begin our morning with creativity. Our colorful seating mats will allow for some flexible seating so students do not always have to remain at a desk to create.

My goal this year apart from creativity is to have a classroom that is organized and attractive and will help students find the materials they need and encourage responsibility by having designated spots to place them in hence the need for our cubbie storage containers, toothbrush holders for pencils and rolling storage carts.

Lastly, to further encourage creativity, a goal of mine is to foster a love for writing and allowing kids to express their imagination through writing. Writing is a task so many kids run from because of the fear of not knowing how to spell certain words or not knowing the right words to use. The mini notebooks and half composition books is aimed to dispel this fear by being used to create spelling and vocabulary mini dictionaries for students to write words as they learn them to use in their overall writing.

My students are special and deserve to have access to resources that will increase engagement and learning despite their economic status.
