Help me give my students an opportunity to be part of an adventure that many inner-city students seldom receive! I want them to learn all about flying kites.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the great fortune of teaching 12 first grade students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Since they live in a very large urban city, many have never had a chance to run around and fly kites, similar to students from smaller cities or those in the suburbs.

The idea of my students playing in the fresh air, participating in some form of physical activity while doing something their parents may not have time for is quite appealing to me as their teacher because these experiences engage all my learners and get them excited about coming to school to learn.

I dream of my class going on a field trip to a nearby park so that they may fly their kites.
