We are a tight-knit neighborhood school with an amazing group of eager learners. We are a school focused on problem-solving, social and emotional learning, as well as furthering their learning in reading and math.
We are a classroom full of children ready to be challenged with new ideas, investigative thinking, and problem-solving.
In order to be successful, my students need various tools and resources to reach the world beyond our walls, as well as to focus on the learning taking place in the room. As their teacher, I am focused on providing each student the opportunity to be successful, feel safe in their school environment, empower them to be proud of who they are, as well as helping each of them reach their highest potential.
My Project
I love to read books in my classroom, both chapter books, picture books, as well as non-fiction. We just spent a week studying our 'Extreme Earth' with a focus on Mt. Everest. I hope to include new books on Everest for the students to continue their study of the incredible world!
Reading a book allows students to take adventures they may never be able to take in real life.
Adventure books are very popular in my classroom and I want to give them new series to read.
New books that have just been released are also on my wish list- hardcover books tend to last longer in my classroom library. Plus new books, no one has read before, are fun read alouds!
As we read chapter books, I like to keep our work during discussions visible for students from day to day. I will use the easel pad of paper to jot our thoughts about plot, character development, theme or even for outlines during writing time, to keep them posted on the wall of the classroom.
