My Students

Hello, thanks for taking time to learn about our amazing group of preschoolers! My room is comprised of 34 3-5 year old children. 90%+ of my students live in homes below poverty level. Families are also a special part of our program, as we have programs intended to help them learn homemaking and parenting skills. We have also been able to encourage parents to complete their GED. We love to share success stories that we see everyday, but I feel you need to know the root of our problem if I am asking you to help me.

Due to the heroin epidemic in our community, families are not structured like they once were.

Many grand and great-grandparents are raising babies. Some children do not know where they are going to sleep at night or find their next meal; we as educators have to meet these basic needs before we can prepare children to learn. The transition between home and coming in the classroom prepared to learn can be challenging. Our goal is to make our classroom as fun and engaging as possible through attention grabbing technology that meet the needs of all developmental levels.

My Project

My students need to have more outdoor play experiences! We have a playground with swings and a jungle gym, but these children need to run and play more.

We are requesting a variety of balls, portable hoop, tetherball set, foam bat and ball sets and storage locker.

By helping us purchase playground balls and activities, you will be directly involved in the development of gross motor skills, as well as a life long love of outdoor play! Kicking, throwing, and catching balls are all important developmental keys in the growth of large motor. Children need to develop the large muscles before they can develop the smaller muscles used for writing and cutting, etc. The more we can encourage children to be active outside and give them skills to grow on, the more of a chance they are to learn a healthy way of life!
