My Project

Let’s GO!!! Our junior high school is ready to introduce students to the world of coding. With a goal of implementing a new CS Discoveries Course, we will be providing our 7th and 8th-grade students with a hands-on curriculum in order to experience coding as a way to help shape the world around them. It is undeniable computer science is a foundational skill for all 21st-century careers.

Coding is a skill that encourages problem-solving and teamwork - both essential skills in the real world.

Many of our students lack the opportunities to engage in this type of computer science exploration outside the classroom.

This project will provide my students with the materials and tools needed to experience a tactile approach to coding. The Sphero BOLT Classroom Pack will allow students to have the opportunity to design and solve mazes, navigate obstacles, transform into different objects, and much more! The Epson wide format printer and supplies will allow students to create poster-size prints needed for our challenge designs as well as reinforce learning with posters larger than the standard sheet of paper. The 3D pens will be used in combination with craft supplies to pair our projects such as the Sphero Maze Challenge, Sphero Chariot Races, Sphero Boat Challenge, and Sphero Battle Bots with the Engineering Design Process.
