This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx, NY, where most of our students and their families are struggling financially. Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe and supportive learning environment. One of our goals is to prepare our students for success in high school, college, and their future in general.

All my students are able to learn!

I teach 8th-grade students in a self-contained special education class. As a special educator, It is my job to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of my students. To do this successfully, I must use many tools and techniques.

My students are amazing children who happen to struggle to learn academically, emotionally, and socially. Despite all these challenges, I love teaching them! My students come from households where they don't always know where their next meal will come from or when they will have clean laundry. Many of them receive some form of public assistance. I want to make my classroom a warm and inviting environment where all my students feel nurtured and safe, as well as have materials that fit their needs.

My Project

Students have been learning from home. Most learning was completed on an electronic device. There was no use for paper, pencils, notebooks, and folders.

After about a year and a half of distance learning, students are FINALLY back in the classroom.

They need some help organizing materials they haven't used in a while. These materials will get them well on their way to place all their materials in a central location for easy access when they need them. The bright colors will make it easier to find! Let's get organized!
