My Project

We are so excited to announce that our students will be participating in vocational centers so that they can practice important life skills. Our school has a kitchen center where students will participate in a daily cooking and meal preparation program. The shelving unit in this project will allow us to organize all of kitchen items so we can easily access everything. The plastic cups and pop-up food trays will allow us to sell our food products to our peers. This will promote socialization, allow us to practice important money skills, and fund our vocational centers. Students will be able to use a real life ketchup and mustard dispenser when purchasing their snacks at the kitchen center.

Teaching students with autism basic life skills in our kitchen vocational center and greeting card store will give them the opportunity for future autonomy, drastically improving their quality of life.

Due to being diagnosed with autism our students experience significant delays in the areas of cognition, communication and socialization. Unfortunately, this leads to requiring support in many aspects of their life. Our vocational program aims provide students with the confidence and independence they are lacking.
