This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is undeniable that the pandemic not only affected our students and their learning but also the ways we teach. My teaching before the pandemic and after are night and day, I had to learn new techniques and strategies to engage my learners. Unfortunately, many of our students spent their earliest formative years in front of excess technology because of the pandemic restrictions which has an impact on how they are learning and their attention span. As a teacher, I am trying make our learning as engaging as possible to help my students build their retention.

The goal of my project is to receive different materials and tools that will help contribute to an engaging learning environment to build students learning abilities.

One of the materials I requested is a reading center, this resource has 4 books and takes students through engaging levels with hands on materials to learn how to a read a book. Another item requested is a clicker, because although we do try to minimize technology I also use slides for lessons but I don't have the ability to draw students attention to a specific item. With the proper clicker we can highlight and spotlight important skills from our lesson which will engage students and captivate their attention. The other materials contribute to this notion of creating engaging learning, such as a practice with letter identification, paper/magnets for anchor charts, and calming supplies to navigate their emotions.
