Ms. Gilbert from Birmingham AL is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students options that will promote collaboration and give them choices.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The students in my classroom may not have the best home lives, but they won't allow that to stop them from coming to school with a positive attitude toward learning. They enjoy learning through songs, stories, group discussions, small groups, and hands-on experiences.
Our school aims to provide its students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade with a great education.
Teachers are encouraged to teach using a community of inquiry. Therefore, it is preferred that students learn for themselves through self-discovery and hands-on experiences.
The fulfillment of this project will provide my students with alternative seating choices. The presence of nontraditional seating will allow students to move as they learn. It can be concluded that teaching has evolved throughout the years. For that reason, the way in which classrooms are structured has transformed. I would like to provide my students with alternative seating options within the classroom.
Flexible seating provides students with nontraditional seating such as bean bag chairs, floor seats, and saucer chairs.
Students are to choose the best seating option for themselves to do their best learning. Flexible seating provides students with the option to move during their learning because they do not have a certain area to seat.
Therefore, flexible seating gives students the power of choice.
The power of choice provides students with the opportunity to be involved in their learning process and become great learners. I believe that flexible seating will be a great source of learning for my students because they will be able to move around and release energy in a child-friendly classroom that is conducive to learning.
