As a Reading Interventionist at Martha Gaskins Elementary School in Birmingham City Schools, I work with students who need additional support to become confident readers. During small-group intervention, students strengthen foundational skills such as letter recognition, phonics, decoding, and reading fluency. Many of my students have the determination to succeed but need extra practice and engaging materials to help them grow. Hands-on resources make learning interactive and help students stay motivated while building confidence in their reading abilities. Our district’s mission is to guide all students to achieve excellence in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. With your support, my students will have access to resources that make literacy instruction meaningful and engaging, helping them develop the skills they need to become successful, independent readers.
