I work with a very special group of students. Close to 100% of my students are first generation Americans. Most of their parents do not speak English. They are very proud of their heritage but also proud to be Americans. My school is a Title I school and all of my students qualify for a free breakfast and lunch from our school. Many of my students come from families that struggle financially.
My students deserve a quality education from a school with state of the art technologies.
If they are given an even playing field, the sky is the limit for them. I miss being with my students. They are for the most part well behaved and eager to learn.
Teaching Calculus is difficult under the best of circumstances. Teaching Calculus via Zoom classroom has posed its challenges. I have been using a white board to demonstrate examples of problems from my home office via Zoom. There are many problems with this including glare and not being able to zoom in on my work.
With a Surface Pro I can annotate my work onto the computer screen giving my students easy to read examples.
I can also embed video and animate situations using Calculus in Motion apps.
Once we return to on site teaching at our school I will continue using this wonderful tool in my classroom.
