Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are amazing young children trying to succeed with very little resources at home. Many of my students are from low-income homes. We at our school are trying to expose students to all kinds of programs including keeping them up with technology. Many of our students could benefit from more physical activity too. Many don't feel safe playing outside. It is proven that the ball chairs and wobble stools strengthens the core and helps burn calories.

When we have snow on the ground students are unable to have outdoor recess.

There is no safe area for them to run and play. This is a great way to supplement some extra movement during the day.

My Project

Students have been and will continue to use the chairs to help with balance, core and back strengthening along with movement to help with behaviors that may occur due to too much sitting and not enough movement. Students have really shown great improvement in behaviors. I found that students spend less time touching each other and more time bouncing and working.

Elementary students spend longs hours in the classroom and are required to sit still and pay attention for long periods of time.

This is difficult for adults let alone young children. The ball chairs allow the students to move without distracting others or the learning environment.
