Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing elementary scholars who are fully virtual. Due to COVID-19, the families in my class have chosen to attend school fully remotely. They log in each morning and attend school each period following the same schedule and curriculum that they would if they were in person. I have 2 sets of students, a morning and afternoon class. They enjoy reading diverse books and participating in interactive math lessons.

My students come from very diverse backgrounds.

I have a large ENL population, they are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are general and special education students. They are all amazing kids!

My Project

March Book Madness is an online bracket-style tournament that matches books in one-on-one "games." The games will be decided by a simple vote on a Google Form. Students take part in voting each game. After each round of voting, the bracket will be updated and the next round of voting will begin.

This is an event that the whole school can participate in while enjoying the same books and engaging in a sense of community in their classes and beyond-we want to reward the classes with the most participation with A Virtual Field Trip Pizza or Taco Party.

This will give students an exciting prize to work towards while filling a food need and giving them a unique Virtual learning experience at the same time.
