My Students

Have you ever tried to use the bathroom in complete darkness? It may sound humorous, but for little 5 and 6 year olds, the experience can be quite frightening.

Hello!

I teach Academic Intervention Services to students in grades K-5. Our rural elementary school in upstate New York has a student population of 360 students. Students who are at risk of failing the New York State Assessments, and students who are having difficulty academically are recommended to receive Academic Intervention Services.

My Project

The rechargeable flashlights that I am requesting in this proposal will help lessen the anxiety my students feel when the power goes out in our school. The lights are LED and are rechargeable, which means they will be ready if and when the power goes out. They also will last for 15 hours when fully charged.

The power doesn't go out often, but when it does, the generators do not power lights in the bathrooms and this is often an anxiety producing experience for my students.

Your donation will allow my students to use the school bathroom without the fear of complete darkness, getting hurt, or having an accident on the floor.
