I was able to complete my Breathe for Change program and become a SEL facilitator and a certified yoga instructor. Incorporating yoga and meditation into my classroom has started to have a profound effect and will continue to do so as I include more of it in my teaching. These practices are helping students develop focus, emotional regulation, and body awareness - skills that directly support music education. Yoga enhances posture, breath control, and coordination, which are essential for singing and playing instruments. Meditation fosters calmness and attention, preparing students to be more engaged with our class activities. Together, these mindful strategies create a positive, inclusive learning environment that nurtures creativity, reduces anxiety, and empowers students to express themselves confidently.\r\n\r\nI have been using these skills with all of my first grade classes. I have noticed students are regulated and more engaged in our lessons. I do not have as many behavior issues as before. I have also started weekly yoga classes for faculty and staff in our building. I have had many positive comments about how it is a great way to start their day.\r\n\r\nThis summer, I am hoping to add a Children's Yoga Certification so that next year, I can offer \"Mindful Mondays\" before school.
