My Students

Hi! I am now a third-year teacher in the Charleston, South Carolina area. I am teaching pre-developmental kindergarten (PDK) which is a self-contained kindergarten class for students with special needs. I currently have 8 students, but my numbers fluctuate throughout the year and from year to year. My students have an array of disabilities and needs. My class is a fun, loving place full of constant energy and sweet smiles. We love singing, dancing, playing, and laughing together every day!

My Project

As the first week of a new year is coming to a close it has become apparent that my new students need specific materials to have success in the classroom.

Each of my students has individual sensory needs that I am trying to meet with tactile objects, bright colors and light!

The light table and accessories will be a vibrant way for my student's to learn their letters, numbers, to sort, to pattern, and so much more. Adding color and light will make learning these necessary skills enjoyable by grabbing my students attention unlike typical classroom manipulatives are able to.
