My Students

My students are an amazing group of 5th graders. This year I have the privilege of teaching some of them again and as I result I have gotten to know them well. They are so full of life and give it their best even with the personal chaos in their world. They are resilient, innovative and overall amazing kiddos.

Many of the students are behind academically, have added learning disabilities and many come from low SES environments which makes their home support very limited.

Many are on free or reduced lunch. Many students require one-on-one and small group support in order for them to be successful.

My Project

Due to COVID-19, many of my students come to school with uncertainties, anxiety, fears, anger and worries about the future. These negative preoccupations of their minds hinder their abilities to learn and to perform at their best.

Allowing them to use a silent fidget cube during class or have a calming animal eraser sitting on their desk, will allow them to focus on something that they can control in their lives.

This, in turn,will help them to relax enough to focus on mastering educational content and overall being happy students.
