Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work for a Title 1 school. These students come from all ranges of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school offers free breakfast and lunch to all of our students due to the huge need. Some kids aren't able to buy all of their supplies. I am very fortunate to be able to have access to supplies for the students so that if a child does come without things they won't have to stress about finding the way to get it.
My students always come so eager to learn, and read, and get as much from the school day as they possibly can.
This is what makes teaching so much fun, seeing these kids throughout the week grow and learn from the beginning to the end of the school year.
My Project
My students are always looking for ways to keep themselves entertained when our recess spot is not on the playground. The recess equipment will help allow us to organize a game of ball or tag using the equipment listed.
Kids love getting to go outside and have equipment to play with.
I would love it even more if my students didn't have to go looking for equipment around the building. The balls would aide in all type stuff of games they could play, the frisbees could be used to not only throw and catch but in relay game as well. The jump ropes are a big favorite with kids, and so is the chalk for those kids who would much rather draw during their free time.
This would also allow my students to become responsible for classroom supplies and equipment. It builds leadership and communication things that students need to practice outside of the classroom.
