My Project

My students are fabulosos! I am a Reading Interventionist for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. My students work hard each day to improve their reading skills in important areas such as decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Many of my students are Multilingual Learners, who speak both Spanish and English.

It is so important that my Multilingual Learners read in both English & Spanish to keep their literacy skills in both languages strong and to preserve the cultural connection they have to their home language!

My students who read in Spanish need a variety of genres to choose from so that they can grow their reading skills in both literature and informational text.

Providing books that are biographies, realistic fiction, fantasy, fairy tales, etc. mean that my students will be capable of understanding those texts in both languages. And as we know, reading is power- or as many of my students say, "¡Leer es poder!"

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
