Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are awesome and come to school ready to learn everyday! For most of my students, kindergarten is their first school experience. They discover a love for learning and build a strong foundation for becoming successful in their academic experiences.
Many of my students find school to be their only source of structure, place for meals and a safe and reliable environment they come to depend on.
Many of my students are language learners and come from low-income homes. It is our schools top priority to educate every student so they can become productive members of society and good citizens. This is no small effort! We have a dedicated staff and administration who work relentlessly to make this happen! We do our best to live up to our district's motto, "Excellence on Purpose."
My Project
Large floor puzzles are the perfect choice for my kindergarten students. While working in a small group, floor puzzles provide opportunities to think critically, problem solve, communicate and build confidence.
Puzzles provide a fun and engaging way to learn.
While building skills, puzzles also provide opportunities for students to learn academically. Learning is reinforced through the print on the puzzle. Whether it be numbers, letters, or an academic print.
Floor puzzle pieces are also the right size for little hands. There aren't too many pieces which ensure the students experience success, and don't get too frustrated, or give up. They also provide a nice transition into using harder, more difficult puzzles.
