My Students

I have the privilege of teaching 29 second grade ESL students who love school and come in ready to learn each day.

We are a diverse group coming from many different backgrounds, but we all have a common love of learning.

We are in a high-poverty area, many have limited English skills, and some are even fleeing war-torn countries with their families for a better life. These students work so hard and are optimistic and enthusiastic, despite the challenges or barriers many of them face. My greatest reward is watching them succeed!

My Project

Each student in my classroom will benefit from these Power Pens and flashcards. These will be available for students to use during class, interventions, and when they complete their work early. These pens will allow students to practice math skills and get immediate feedback, without the use of a worksheet.

Every student learns differently and at their own speed.

These pens and math cards will allow students to work on skills specific to their needs. My students will be able to work independently or with a partner to build essential math skills. They will be engaged and excited about learning!
