This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I middle school. The students that I teach are special education students. This is my fourth year at my school. As their teacher I want to provide a safe and calm learning environment. It is important to me to provide a learning envirnoment to the studentst that allows flexibile seating, hands on items for learning and fidgets. It is also important for me to provide tools that allow for them to access the curriculum, think for themselves and learn to advocate for themselves in a healthy way. My over all goal as an educator is to provide a learning community that allows to academic, as well as social emotional growth.

My Project

The calculators and mice will give them a tool that they need in order to access the curriculum. My student have learning disabilities and are able to learn the high level concepts, but struggle with memorizing. The calculators will allow my students to focus on the standard being taught.

These items are accommodations that will support the students academically in the classroom.

With one to one computers in the classroom, sometimes the students have diffeculty using the computer without a mouse. The mouse will take away some tactile fustration and allow them to focus on their learning. Your support for our learning community is greatly appreciated.
