Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a 4th-grade teacher in a low-income area just outside of Philadelphia. The school houses students from 1st-8th grade with 100% of the students receiving free breakfast and lunch. The students in my class are eager and excited to learn; however, many students do not come prepared with the supplies they need for the day. Often times, students are looking for something as small as a pencil to use.

I want to provide my students with the necessary tools and materials they need for them to be successful both in and outside of the classroom.

My Project

My students are a very energetic bunch and love to be involved and engaged in their learning. My students learn in many different ways. One way they learn is through visuals and technology. In our classroom, we have a SmartBoard that my students enjoy using because they are able to interact with the SmartBoard and move around during the lesson.

In order to use the SmartBoard, my students need a new projector for our classroom.

We also love to use the SmartBoard to play interactive games that go along with our lessons! We also use an app called Classroom Dojo that can be shown on the SmartBoard and throughout the day the students can give themselves points for good behavior. We have not been able to do these activities because we do not have the appropriate projector for our SmartBoard. With a new projector, this can all be possible!
