My Students

My 4th graders enter my classroom in September not knowing much about me or their classmates but leave in June as talented readers, authors, engineers, and most importantly as growing young members of society who believe they can change the world. We build a unique family throughout the school year where their voices are heard and their thoughts and ideas matter.

My group of diverse students are innovative, collaborative, inquisitive, active, and eager to learn.

They set the tone for our classroom environment and their learning experiences.

My Project

I have a classroom library full of fiction books and my students love to read them! However, there are always students looking for nonfiction books to read and I don't have any in my classroom. Reading nonfiction is an essential skill for 4th graders because nonfiction texts get more and more complex at this level.

My students need access to more engaging nonfiction texts to make reading nonfiction a little less scary and overwhelming.

Most of the books I'm asking for are related to our Social Studies curriculum or related to my students' interests. These nonfiction books will help to enhance the curriculum and also engage readers in a lifelong journey of reading.
