Learning Through Lakeshore

My Students

My school is located in an urban setting and is a Title I school. Many of my students come from low socioeconomic households. Every student at my school receives free breakfast, and many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. Most of my students have many struggles in life, and, because of this, they struggle in numerous ways academically, behaviorally, and socially.

Despite the fact that my students struggle in different ways, they are very loving.

They work hard to overcome obstacles in life. They get excited about learning! I want to be able to help them be more successful and experience things they may not be able to experience outside the school setting.

My Project

School starts in a few short weeks and I am so excited that I will have a classroom full of first-graders again! I made this project thinking about items I could use for my classroom and items that my students can use to practice different skills. The magnetic display shelves will be used to display books we are currently reading as a class. This way students can easily grab them if they would like to read them. The magnetic pointers will be used to bring focus to different concepts.

I would love to be able to add these items to my classroom that will help keep things clean and organized and/or can be used to support my students' learning.

The alphabet materials will be used for a literacy center for practicing letter sounds and spelling. The sensory bead form is also going to be used for a literacy center. Students can make a creation and then write about it. In addition, it can be used for a math center. Students can use the foam to practice skills such as adding, subtracting, and making patterns!
