My Students

Why are my students special, and why do I love them, because they have given my life purpose. My 6th grade Science students at Sidney Middle School make me laugh, they make me think, and they inspire me, just to name a few. My 130 students are so diverse in every way possible, which always makes for exciting days.

My students absolutely love engaging in hands-on labs and activities, and I absolutely love providing these opportunities.

Said opportunities afforded to my students not only help them learn the curriculum, but more importantly, they help develop and foster teamwork, communication, and problem solving, skills needed for life.

My Project

Currently, the only resource I was given to teach 6th grade Science was a book, but this is not a comprehensive way to learn and appreciate Science. In order to fully explore Science, students need hands-on experiences. These lab supplies will enrich and engage my students in their learning, while also providing an element of excitement.

Through the use of these materials, my students will be able to truly learn about minerals, rocks, types of soil, and plant and animal cells by experiencing them, and not just reading about them.

These lab materials will definitely enhance the learning environment in my classroom.
