Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of 7th/8th grade students with creative skills who enjoy the use of visuals, technology, and hands-on activities in the classroom. I love that they are always enthusiastic about learning and willing to take on new challenges!
Our district is a Title I district with many of our students being multilingual learners and special education students.
In my classroom I serve both of these populations, as I teach special needs students with diverse cultural backgrounds. They work extremely hard to improve their reading and math skills on a daily basis. My students are kind, helpful, curious and overall hard working kids that deserve to learn in the most ideal environment for their academic success.They are dedicated and continually exemplify what it means to be resilient.
My Project
In our math and science classroom, my students rely on a whiteboard to be used as a projecting board and writing board. It is challenging for students to interact with the material projected on the board and often have to copy problems in their notebooks to solve them. With this interactive board, my students will be able to practice math problems in real-time on the board and get a better opportunity to participate in the lesson. In my science class, the whiteboard will help students with matching vocabulary and labeling as we learn new concepts in class. The upgraded speakers are also a plus for videos in class and virtual classes on Microsoft Teams.
With the current pandemic, students have become more aware of technology and its benefits for learning.
With this whiteboard, I hope to improve engagement in my math and science lessons!
